The area of Georgetown County known as Litchfield is located just north of Pawleys Island and just south of Murrells Inlet. This section of the Grand Strand is a much sought after, and is often grouped together with the Pawleys Island when searching for real estate. Litchfield and its beautiful beaches are easily accessible from Highway 17/Ocean Highway  running through the heartland of the Grand Strand. Similar to Pawleys Island, the Litchfield area offers a variety of quaint little shops, nice salons, and great restaurant. Litchfield also holds its commercial builders to an extremely high standard. Chain restaurants and local businesses looking to build a commercial property in the area must develop plans to ensure that their property will not detract from the “look” that Litchfield promotes throughout its community. Even area gas stations must have a more upscale look than other similar stores in different sections of the Grand Strand. Litchfield residents share a school system with the Pawleys Island area, with area students attending the Waccamaw school district.
